Privacy policy

We are pleased that you have chosen to visit our website and we thank you for your interest in our company and services.
For us, data protection is not just a legal obligation, it is also an important tool to increase transparency in our day-to-day handling of your personal data. The privacy of your personal data (hereinafter ‘data’) is very important to us. This privacy policy therefore explains in detail what data is collected when you visit our website and use the services we offer there, and how we then use or process this data, as well as the corresponding technical and organisational measures that we have implemented to protect your data.

Controller for data processing
The controller within the meaning of the applicable data protection regulations is LOSTnFOUND AG; see also our legal notice.

Processor
The (external) processor is responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with data protection requirements.

Collection and use of your data
The extent and nature of the gathering of your data depends on whether you visit our website only to obtain information or whether you use the services that we offer:

Informational use
To use our website purely for the purpose of obtaining information, you do not generally need to provide personal data.
In this situation, we only gather and use the data about you that is transferred to us automatically by your Internet browser, such as:

  • Date and time of your access to our website
  • Browser type
  • Browser settings
  • Operating system in use
  • The last page you visited
  • Quantity of data transferred and access status (file transferred, file not found etc.)
  • IP address

In the case of a visit for informational purposes, we collect and process this data only in anonymised form. This is necessary to enable the use of the web pages that you visit, for statistical purposes and to improve our website. We store IP addresses for 30 days. No personal analysis is performed.

Contact form
We use the name, email address and message that you enter in the contact form only for the purpose of responding to your request. Data is stored for a longer period, up to a maximum of 10 years, only to comply with legislation requiring email correspondence to be archived (emails constitute business and trade letters).
We may pass your data to our carefully selected service providers for the above purposes. These service providers may be technical service providers or our providers of delivery services.
In all other cases, we will disclose your data to third parties only where we are legally required to so.

Newsletter
To enable you to subscribe to our email newsletter service, we require your declaration of consent regarding data privacy, as well as your email address to which the newsletter should be sent. Any other information is provided on a voluntary basis and will be used to address you personally and to enable us to tailor the content of the newsletter, as well as to allow us to clarify any queries regarding the email address.
We generally use the ‘double opt-in’ process for subscriptions to our newsletter. This means that we will only send you our newsletter once you have confirmed your subscription by clicking on the link in a confirmation email sent to you for this purpose. We use this process to ensure that only the owner of the email address provided can subscribe to the newsletter. You should confirm your subscription as soon as possible once you receive the confirmation email, as your newsletter registration will otherwise be deleted from our database automatically.
You may unsubscribe from a newsletter provided by us at any time.
To do so, you can either send us an email (prvcy@lostnfound.com) or click on the relevant link at the end of the newsletter.

Electronic quote generation (Solutionfinder)
On our website, we offer you the option to generate a quote tailored to your needs in just a few steps. To do this, we require your declaration of consent regarding data privacy, as well as your email address to which the quote should be sent. Any other information is provided on a voluntary basis and will be used to address you personally and to enable us to tailor the content of the newsletter, as well as to allow us to clarify any queries regarding the email address.
You can unsubscribe from information regarding this quote system at any time.
To do so, you can either send us an email (prvcy@lostnfound.com) or click on the relevant link at the end of the email in question.

Use of cookies
We use cookie technology for our website. Cookies are small text files that are sent from our web server to your browser during your visit to our website. They are retained on your computer by your browser for future access.
This website uses the following types of cookies:

  • (1) Transient cookies (temporary use)
  • (2) Persistent cookies (use for a defined period)

Cookies can generally be divided into two categories:
(1) Transient cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser. This type of cookie includes session cookies in particular. Session cookies store a session ID that is used to assign different requests from your browser to the same session. This ensures that your computer can be recognised when you visit our website again. Session cookies are deleted when you log out or close your browser.

(2) Persistent cookies are automatically deleted after a defined period has expired, which may vary depending on the cookie. You can delete cookies at any time via your browser's security settings.
You can configure your browser settings according to your preferences and reject third-party cookies or all cookies, for example. However, please note that you may then be unable to use some of the features of this website.
You can find more information on how to reject cookies using special browser plug-ins in the introduction to the section on integrated services later in this privacy policy.
We do not collect or store personal data in cookies in this context. We also do not use any technologies that connect information collected by cookies with user data.
You can find more information on cookies via the Verbraucher Sicher Online consumer security information portal of the Technical University of Berlin: https://www.verbraucher-sicher-online.de/thema/cookies

Web analysis
It is important to us to optimise our websites and make them as attractive as possible for our customers. To enable us to do so, we need to know how our customers respond to different sections of our website. We use the following technologies for this purpose.

Google AdWords conversion tracking
As a Google AdWords customer, we sometimes also use Google conversion tracking, which is an additional analysis service offered by Google Inc. If you access our website via a Google ad (AdWords ad above/alongside Google search results), Google sets an additional ‘conversion cookie’ on your computer. This cookie is not used to identify you personally but enables us to match your access to our website via Google ads with your resulting decisions to buy our products.
Google does not currently offer an opt-out cookie for this cookie. You can deactivate your browser’s storage of the conversion cookie or use additional browser plug-ins.
You can find more information on Google AdWords conversion tracking at:
https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/1722022?hl=en-gb

Google remarketing
This website uses retargeting technology. This enables us to target website visitors who have already shown an interest in our shop and our products with personalised advertising relevant to their interests. Advertising is shown using cookie-based analysis of previous usage behaviour, but no personal data is stored in this process. Retargeting technology stores a cookie on your computer or mobile device to record anonymised data on your interests to allow tailored advertising based on the information stored. These cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer or mobile device. As a result, you are shown advertising that is more likely to correspond with your interests in products and information.
You can permanently block the setting of advertising cookies by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/

Integrated services
We use the following external services to optimise our website and provide additional functions:

  • jQuery.com
  • youtube.com
  • Google reCAPTCHA
  • ausgezeichnet.org

All of the services described below can be deactivated using special browser plug-ins that disconnect the connection needed by these services to the relevant servers. However, please note that the use of such tools may have an impact on the everyday convenience that you are used to, since many aspects will no longer function as expected.
Tools such as NoScript, uBlock Origin or uMatrix are recommended for readers interested in using these tools. There are many tools that aim to make Internet browsing more secure in general, but these tools do not necessarily ensure privacy.
When configured correctly, these tools can also generally prevent the aforementioned web analysis or use-based advertising networks and other connections to third parties triggered automatically in the background for all websites that you visit.

jQuery.com
We use the jQuery JavaScript library on our website. This library primarily enables a modern website design. To improve the loading speed of our website, we use the CDN (content delivery network) of jQuery to load this library. It is extremely likely that you have already downloaded jQuery from the jQuery CDN by visiting another website. In this case, your browser can retrieve the copy stored in the cache. If your browser has not stored a copy in the cache or downloads the file from the jQuery CDN for another reason, your IP address will be transmitted to StackPath LLC, the CDN provider of jQuery.com, during this connection.

The jQuery JavaScript library is developed by the jQuery team of the JS Foundation:

jQuery is distributed via the StackPath CDN on behalf of the JS Foundation.
The CDN is provided by:

  • StackPath LLC
    2021 McKinney Ave
    Suite 1100,
    Dallas, TX 75201, USA.

You can find more information on privacy at StackPath LLC at: https://www.stackpath.com/privacy-statement/#Contact-Information

YouTube
Some of the posts on our website contain videos from our YouTube channel. YouTube videos are generally embedded on our website in privacy-enhanced mode (YouTube feature), meaning that YouTube will not initially transfer any cookies to your browser or store any information about you. However, this ceases to apply if you play the video. Regardless of whether or not you play a video, your IP address will be transmitted to YouTube and the Google DoubleClick advertising network. If you are already logged into YouTube with a user account at the time of your visit to our website, YouTube may also associate the visit to our website with your user behaviour. As the provider of our website, we do not receive any information regarding the content of the transmitted data or use of this information by YouTube, and we are not able to further restrict the transmission of data to YouTube and its partners.
Operator:

Google reCAPTCHA
Google reCAPTCHA technology is integrated into our contact form. We use this technology to protect ourselves from spam messages and to prevent our website from being inundated with automated attacks. Basically, we use this verification to establish that you are not a (harmful) machine. When Google reCAPTCHA is used, a Google server in the US is contacted and your IP address is transferred to Google. If you are already logged into Google with a user account at the time of your visit to our website, Google may also associate the visit to our website with your user behaviour. We have no control over this process and we do not receive any information from Google about the transmitted content.
Provider:

  • Google Inc.
    1600 Amphitheatre Parkway
    Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

You can find more information on Google reCAPTCHA at:
https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/
You can find more information on privacy at Google Inc. at: https://www.google.com/intl/en-gb/policies/privacy/

ausgezeichnet.org
The website downloads a JavaScript code for ausgezeichnet.org. We use their widget to integrate customer ratings into our website. If JavaScript is activated in your browser and you do not have a JavaScript blocker installed, your browser may transmit personal data. To find out which data ausgezeichnet.org receives and the extent to which ausgezeichnet.org uses this data, please see the privacy policy of ausgezeichnet.org.
Operator:

  • AUBII GmbH
    Alsterufer 34
    20354 Hamburg
You can find more information on privacy at AUBII GmbH at:

Social media links
Our website includes links to various social media platforms with the corresponding logos. These links are not social media plug-ins – they are simply a link to our pages on these platforms. If you click on these links, your IP address will generally be transmitted to the operators of the various platforms. If you are a user of one of these services and you are also logged in with your individual account, information on your browsing behaviour may potentially also be recorded by the operator of the social media platform. The transmission of your IP address to the operator when you access a website is necessary for technical reasons, and this applies to all websites.

Legal grounds for processing data
This section provides an overview of the legal grounds on which we rely in order to process your data.

Contact and quotation form
Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or in order to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract.

  • Art. 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) – from 25 May 2018
  • Section 28(1) of the German Data Protection Act (Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG) – until 25 May 2018

These legal grounds apply to registration, ordering, payment, delivery and data collected via the contact and quotation form.

Web analysis and use-based online advertising
User profiles employing pseudonyms may be created for the purposes of advertising, market research and tailoring telemedia (e.g. websites) to suit specific needs, provided that the user (you) does not object (Section 15(3) of the German Telemedia Act (Telemediengesetz, TMG).

  • Section 15(3) TMG – expected to apply until 25 May 2018

These legal grounds apply to Google Analytics, Google AdWords and Google Remarketing.

Your rights
Overview of the rights of the data subject (your rights) in connection with data processing within our website according to applicable data protection regulations.

Right to access
You are entitled to access personal data concerning you that has been stored, its origin and recipients, and the purpose for which it is being processed.

Right to rectification
You have the right to request that we correct your stored data at any time. Should you identify an inaccuracy, you can also correct your data yourself in your customer account.

Rights to erasure and block access
You have the right to request that we delete your stored data or, if data retention obligations require us to hold your data (e.g. invoices), to request that we block this data to prevent further processing.

Right to restriction of data processing
You have the right to restrict the processing of data

  •  if you dispute the accuracy of your data and you are not able to correct this data yourself;
  • if processing would be unlawful but you do not wish your data to be deleted;
  • if we as the controller no longer need your data but you need this data for the purposes of establishing, exercising or defending legal claims;
  •  or if you have raised an objection to the processing of the data and it has not yet been established whether we have legitimate grounds to continue processing the data that outweigh your grounds for objection.

Right to object to processing
Should we (now or in the future) send you direct marketing (e.g. newsletters, offers), you have the right to object to this processing of data at any time. Your consent will be ensured by once again informing you of your right to object, and you will be able to exercise this right easily via technical means (e.g. opt-out-link in a newsletter); this also applies to any profiling that may be directly connected to direct marketing.
Should we ever, based on your interests, use your data for purposes other than orders via the web shop (generally speaking, we do not), you have the right to object to this processing of data on grounds relating to your specific situation at any time. Should such processing of your data occur, we will notify you of this immediately.
This also applies to any pseudonymised or anonymised data processing for statistical purposes. This means that you can also object to any of the web analysis technologies that we use (e.g. Google Analytics), including by using an opt-out cookie; please see the relevant section (web analysis, integrated services, social media plug-ins and use-based online advertising).
Right to data portability
If required, your data that you have provided to us personally will be provided to you in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and/or, provided this is technically possible, transmitted to another controller (e.g. another web shop).

Right to complain to the supervisory authority
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority responsible for data protection at any time.

Right to withdraw consent
If you give us consent for specific processing of your data, you may withdraw this consent at any time. We require consent only in specific cases, such as when sending newsletters.

Data security
We implement technical and organisational security measures to protect personal data that is produced or collected, particularly against accidental or deliberate manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorised persons. Our security measures are continuously updated in line with technological advances.
Your personal data is encrypted using SSL technology (https) during transfer to prevent it from being accessed by unauthorised third parties.

Communication by email
The security of data cannot be completely guaranteed when communicating by email, so we will send you highly confidential information by post.
